Sarasa was founded with the specific purpose of playing classical music for people who ordinarily do not have the opportunity to hear live performances. It is both challenging and rewarding for Sarasa musicians to make the music of composers like Bach, Haydn or Schubert speak to audiences for who are unfamiliar with it. The Outreach Concert ExperienceIn many contexts, Sarasa encourages interaction with the audience, communicating about the instruments and the music. Often in a program, the audience reciprocates with a performance of their own. The effect of these concerts is not just one way. Sarasa musicians derive much inspiration and pleasure from their interaction with people whose lives can be enriched by the music. Please help Sarasa continue these outreach concerts! |
Sarasa NewsJune 15: A HUGE, warm thank you to our many generous contributors who sustain our outreach concerts. May 20: *Residencies completed: Sarasa recently completed three outreach residencies at three teenage delinquent centers in Massachusetts.*New Sarasa member: Very talented violinist Christina Day Martinson joined Sarasa for its concert at the Frick Collection in NYC. Welcome Christina! *CD release update: The release of Sarasa's Bach Cantatas CD's has been delayed until summer/fall of this year due to high costs of having to force a second recording session. |
